The truth about Search Engine Optimization

Search Engine Optimization will not give you instant high rankings. There are many factors that go into your rankings within a search engine. SEO is a process that if done right over time will increase your rankings. Unfortunately there is no way to get to the top overnight. Believe me no one out there can do it. There are ways to work your way up the rank list. There are many supplemental ways to produce traffic that I advise in addition to search engine optimizing your site. One being advertising on a major search engine through pay per click. Another is marketing your site to better suite your audience with correct wording. You don't want to hit the outer rings of the target, you want to hit the bulls eye don't you? SEO, marketing and building your site to that bulls eye is the whole idea to get the traffic you want and need.

Top SEO improvements you can make to your site

1. Build a nice site with easy navigation. I mean really easy. No one wants to have to hunt to get where they want to go. The average time someone is on a site for the first time is something like 2 minutes and the average amount of pages someone looks at is 2 pages. Make your site count with every page you make.

2. Along the lines of building a nice site. Search engines look at text and not pictures. If you have text in pictures the search engines can't read what the text is.

3. Put as much relevant content into your pages as possible keeping in mind that people are trying to navigate and find what they are looking for. Ease of use is the key to this issue.

4. Submit your site to search engines. This is no rocket science. When doing this some sites like DMOZ.org, this one is very important to write a good description. Stop and think about what key points you want to make that will get your best foot forward when someone is trying to find your site or searching for keywords that are relevant to your site.
